Rogers Middle School/Rockland High School Building Project
The project calls for the construction of a new middle school attached to the existing high school and complete renovation of the high school. Here are the highlights.
- The new middle school will have:
- Full size gym with bleachers
- Oversized fully equipped Science labs for each teaching team (8 in total)
- 125 seat lecture hall, large shared media/library center
- Larger classrooms
- New furniture and equipment
- State of the art technology throughout
The renovated high school would have:
- New windows, insulation and roof
- Completely renovated, air conditioned auditorium
- New gym floor and bleachers, large shared media/library center
- New plumbing, electrical and heating plant
- Fully renovated Science labs (removing accreditation issues)
- New furniture, equipment and state of the art technology
- New studio theater, completely renovated kitchen and cafeteria
Impact on the elementary schools:
- Frees up space for specialist subjects and eventually full- time kindergarten
- At the end of the project all maintenance funding can be focused on the elementary schools
- Equipment and technology currently in the Middle and High School can move down to the elementary schools
What will it cost?
- The total cost of the project is $86,032,496
- The total admissible amount for reimbursement is $83,032,496
- The reimbursement rate is 64.26%
- The towns contribution is $32,844,767
Impact on taxes (source: Eastern Bank) Amounts are per year and are not subject to the yearly 2.5% increase. This is a debt exclusion.
